MORE THAN SUNDAYS

Church is more than attending a service each Sunday. It’s people living life together and helping each other to reach our community. Each week, people are beginning to meet in small groups to learn more about God, pray, eat, laugh, and live. Led by one or two individuals, most Crosstown Groups are made up of 5-10 people who meet weekly in someone’s home, a cafe, an office or wherever.

IT’S CALLED THE “BODY”

In the Bible, the church is often spoken of as a body. This picture points to the reality that we are all interconnected and depend on one another in life—much like the physical body relies on all its parts to function well.

Most people view church as an event to attend on Sundays. At Crosstown, we believe that while Sundays are important, the church is not a service but the people who come together to worship on Sundays and then live life throughout the week at home, work, and in society.

IT’S PARTNERSHIP

As the church, we are to take the primary role in serving each other and our community; helping each other grow to be more like Jesus, and caring for the hurting and injured members of the body, as well as sharing the good news of Jesus. Rather than only rely on a handful of people, like pastors and church leaders to make disciples, we accept God’s action plan to have all believers engaged in taking responsibility for the church. This moves the traditional dynamic of church as one of attendance to one of participation. And this leads to real and lasting change both personally and in our families, and communities.

WHY NOT GET CONNECTED?

If you’re looking to get more connected at Crosstown Church, being in a small group is one way to do it. And while it’s always scary to meet new people and be a stranger, we promise you won’t be a stranger for long.

MORE THAN . . .

More than just a Bible study or a prayer group—though those are elements—small group participants take the initiative to challenge our inclination to apathy by actively caring for one another, building friendships with one another, having fun, and participating in serving the church and community.
